How to Make Your Advertising Campaign Memorable
Everywhere you turn you see another advertisement vying for your attention. It seems as though the onslaught of brands and businesses telling you to look here, do this and believe that is never-ending.
If you are among the millions of businesses trying to compete in the mass media market, you can only make an impact by creating an advertising campaign that is relatable and memorable to your target audience.
Take a look at five tips for making your advertising campaign memorable.
You can’t afford to be meek with your advertising campaign. Your competitors are out there shouting from the roof tops and you should be too. A bold campaign is a memorable campaign. Keep in mind that bold doesn’t necessarily need to be flashy or over-the-top, it just needs to make a profound statement.
Tell your story in one sentence or less
Take a cue from how movies promote their storyline in just one sentence. It’s an intriguing and inspiring summary of a much grander thought, narrowed down to a mere few words. This is no easy feat, but when you craft the right tagline to go with your campaign, you have established a very important component to making your advertisements memorable.
Commit to a consistent message
One you’ve established the “story” that ties your whole campaign together, commit to carrying this story across all of your ad placements. Whether you’re buying placement on TV, radio, online, social media or billboards, your ads need to evoke the same emotions, actions and memories across all media.
Target a very specific audience
Get specific about the demographics of your target customer. Who is most likely to be the decision maker or purchaser? Get inside their heads and figure out what appeal is most likely to move them. A younger demographic should be treated differently than an older demographic. Same goes for urban versus rural audiences. You can’t be everything to everyone and neither can your advertising strategy. Put a stake in the ground and build your campaign around it.
Meet your audience where they are
Now that you’ve nailed down your target audience and have created a message tailored to their wants and actions, you must carefully pick your placement. A critical piece of making your advertising campaign memorable is making sure the right people see it at the right time. Meet your audience where they are! Learn their habits and where they go at what hours. Place your billboards, digital ads and sponsored social media posts in these “hot” locations.
Don’t over complicate your message
As we mentioned previously, the “story” of your campaign should be a single sentence or less. To hit this goal, you must keep things simple. Don’t overly complicate your message by trying to explain every detail to your audience in one ad. It simply won’t happen. Rather focus on saying enough to make them want to learn more.
